I've recently become a little obsessed with over the top shoulder and sleeve details. There's something very late 30s/early 40s Joan Crawford about the look, and who doesn't love a little bit of that exaggerated femininity?
Which is one way to say that I love this outfit, but it's also kind of crazy. I actually wore this to a couple of appointments, including the eye doctor, and I couldn't help but feel just a tiny bit self-conscious sitting there talking about different contact lenses and my astigmatism wearing something so over the top.
But you know what? Sometimes a little over-the-top glamour is just what you need to brighten up your life. It makes just walking down the street feel like a bit of an event, and I think everyone should experience that sometimes.
Speaking of glamour, I saw Dita von Teese on Wednesday! It was the first show of her new tour, and it was honestly magical. Everything sparkled and shimmered, and it was joyous and sexy and so, so much fun. If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.
I've been treating myself a little bit in the wake of my promotion, and this purse is one of my new acquisitions. I've been trying to pick up higher quality pieces, things that will last, and this bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company is beautifully made. I also love the oxblood color, which is both versatile and dramatic.
So, what do you guys think of the trend for sleeve details? Is it something that you'd pick up yourself?
