Glad

Glad

The title of the post refers to the flowers in the photos - gladiolus - but it also refers to my mood right now. I had such a lovely weekend, between getting up and taking these photos and celebrating the marriage of some good friends.

I bought this dress for my 31st birthday, but it’s a bit on the fragile side (freaking 80 year old dresses being all weak and stuff) and I haven’t had many opportunities to wear it since then. I’ve been trying not to do quite so much shopping this summer, so I’ve been digging into my archive, so to speak, and pulling out some items that I wanted to revisit. This time I changed up the styling a little bit, leaving off the matching jacket and adding a pretty straw cantonier.

I’ve passed a cute little Episcopal church a few times over the years, and I’ve always loved the red doors. With their black iron accents, it seemed like the perfect place to take photos of this red and black dress.

I attended a really lovely wedding this weekend. My friends, Dane and Gary, have been together for 10 years now, and their ceremony was beautiful, non-traditional, and utterly joyful. I can only hope that my own wedding is half as fun.
