This is, apparently, the summer I wear all the yellow. And I’m ok with that!

My recent shoots have gone very smoothly, but this one… just didn’t. I was very on the fence about getting up early on my regularly scheduled morning before I even went to bed, and then I had very strange dreams and didn’t sleep well, and then I was having computer issues first thing in the morning and had a brief freakout about that instead of getting ready. Since I was running a little behind I had to choose a different location, and a larger than normal number of photos were out of focus and I was seriously thinking I wasn’t going to find anything usable when I was going through what I shot. Ultimately, though, I found a few that I liked, and here we are now.

Why am I telling you all of this? I think I’m probably the only person who finds it all that interesting, but, you know, whatever. Transparency in blogging!

I picked this dress up a couple of months ago, and the only word that I can think of to describe it is sweet. Puff sleeves, button front, slim through the skirt, that perfect ‘just to the knee’ length? I straight up feel like a small town girl waving goodbye to her soldier boyfriend as he goes off to war, putting on a brave face until he’s out of sight and then throwing herself into her mother’s arms and bursting into tears and/or song.

I think part of the reason I’m rambling so much about this outfit is that I’ve been quite stressed recently. We had a bit of a shakeup at work, and while it looks like my job is secure for the moment, it’s hard not to worry that everything might come crashing down. I’ve been somewhat isolated from a lot of the issues that other people have been experiencing right now, and to be honest I’ve felt kind of weird about that; it would be nice, now, to go back to just feeling awkward about my own good fortune.

Anyway, that’s a problem for another day! For right now I’m trying not to get to catastrophic in my thinking, to enjoy the good things in my life, and to take each day as it comes.
