It is definitely, officially, 110% summer in Chicago! And I hate it.

I’m sort of joking, but I left the house at 5am to get these photos, and just the 20 minute walk to the spot I chose had me sweating. It’s been close to 100 degrees and quite humid for the past week or so, and I’m over it.

But anyway, enough about the weather! I know we’re really all here for the clothes.

I’ve been doing a fair amount of shopping lately - boredom means I’m spending more time scrolling through Instagram, and scrolling through Instagram means I’ve been obsessing over different pieces that I’ve seen. I’m also not spending much money on anything else, so… shopping.

Both the skirt and the top are pretty recent acquisitions. The skirt is vintage, 1950s or 60s, and I’m in love with it. It reminds me a lot of the tiles that I saw in Lisbon, and it’s got these swags of fabric that give it a great flow and shape (although I have to remember to pull them up or tie them together when I use the bathroom - I’ve had to wash the skirt twice now after I forgot and dunked them in the toilet, which, ugh). The top is new, and I’m very into the delicate single strap.

In other news, it looks like I’m going back to work soon! Well, soon-ish - right now it’s scheduled for about a month from now. I’ll be completely honest and admit that I’m not very excited about it. There is a lot that I like about working from home, like being able to work out whenever I want to, or do my laundry in the middle of the day, or having time to make home cooked meals. I feel a little guilty about that, because I know that this has been a time of incredible stress for a lot of people, but for me it’s been, well… pretty great. I’m also worried about Chicago or Illinois in general seeing a resurgence of the virus, which a lot of the rest of the country has, although so far we’re still on track. So, lots of mixed emotions! I guess I’ll do some situps about it, because that’s my coping mechanism now, which is weird.

Anyway, stay safe, stay healthy, and stay sane!
